Welcome to this tour of St. Petersburg! You will be introduces to the greatest marvel of Russia's past and present, known to the world as the "Northern Capital of Russia" and the "the Venice of the North". Downtown St. Petersburg dazzles the eye of a visitor with splendid palaces, stylish monuments, straight avenues, beautiful bridges and other attractions. St. Petersburg is filled with history and mystery. Where else would you find a city which is just a bit more than not even 300 years old, but is already full of myths and legends?  Just sit back and discover the unparalleled beauty of St. Petersburg, Russia. Your tour will cover all of the high lights of the city, we will drive along the Nevsky Prospect - the heart of the city and make picture stops at the Spit of Vasilievsky Island, the Senates Square and the St. Isaac's Cathedral, the Art's Square and the Russian Museum as well as at the two magnificent churches, the "Spilled Blood" and the Nikolsky Cathedral

During the tour we visit Peter & Paul Fortress. The origins of the city are traced to this fortress built by Peter the Great on Hare Island, located between the right bank of the River Neva and the Kronverk Strait. Peter planned it as a defence against the Swedes but defeated them before it was finished. It is here that the first political prison was built in Russia, it was the main use of the fortress up to 1917 and this has been preserved and is today a museum. Most worth seeing is the St. Peter & Paul Cathedral with its landmark needle-thin spire, all of Russia’s pre-Revolutionary rulers from Peter the Great are buried here. The small island surrounded by fortress walls preserves an ancient atmosphere of the 18th century.

During the tour we visit St. Isaac’s Cathedral. It is one of the finest architectural monuments of the 19th century and one of the greatest dome constructions in the world, smaller in size only in comparison with the Cathedral of St. Peter in Rome, St. Paul’s Cathedral in London and Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral in Florence. It is able to accommodate about 10000 people. The cathedral is one of the dominant buildings of St. Petersburg. Its monumental and majestic image creates a unique accent in the city’s skyline.

The Tsarskoye Selo palace and park ensemble is a superb monument of world-ranking architecture and garden-and-park design dating from the eighteenth to early twentieth centuries.

The compositional centre of the ensemble is the Catherine Palace – a splendid example of the Russian Baroque. It is famous for the sumptuous décor of the Great Hall and the Golden Enfilade of state rooms that includes the world-famous Amber Room now returned to life. Tsarskoye Selo is also home to one of the finest creations of Classicism in architecture – the Alexander Palace. The Catherine and Alexander Parks are full of a hundred historical monuments - grand palaces and intimate pavilions, bridges and marble monuments, exotic structures imitating Gothic, Turkish and Chinese architecture.
